Inspired by the video by T&H video, There is nothing to do but let go - Jim Carrey.
Step back from that constantly thinking brain and see it thinking. It thinks of things that aren’t always who we are or things we would do or say, but they pass across our minds like clouds in the sky.
In this process, you are the observer of your thoughts.
If you are observing your thoughts, then who is thinking them? Who are you if you are observing you…
This reminds us that we are bigger than thought.
You are bigger than what you do.
You are not your body.
But then, who are we?
Often, we are trying to be somebody for the world. We are buying changing to appear to be someone who sometimes isn’t who we are. Our ego attempts to make us bigger.
We are all trying to add things to ourselves to define ourselves, but as we know from our past efforts, it is an empty chest at the end of that hunt. This is because we are enough. You are complete, there is nothing to add.
We aren’t really definable anyway. We are who we are now, in what we are doing, in who we love and how we are present.
We search but we don’t get answers. So we try on new things, try new things out, but find the grasp never takes hold, as there is never really anything to grasp, we are too fluid.
Can we be okay with not getting those answers despite our constant searching? Can we accept a natural state of curiosity?
If we haven’t got answers to date, the past indicates we might be able to continue going on without some answers, that we can be okay with what is and isn’t answered.
Can you go with what is in this present moment?
Can we allow the day to unfold as it does without the push for it to be something else?
Can we put that part of our ego in the back seat that pushes for more?
Somedays yes. And, some days we will struggle with that. Not one single human is void of that struggle.
We let go as much as we can. We try not to take it personally because it rarely is. We practice daily to remove the ‘my’- it isn’t my house, it is a house: less attachment, more gratitude for what is.
We are more than these thoughts.
We are all connected in that way.
And we can practice letting the rest go whilst we carry along our struggle in that. We carry our struggle along with us, not in front of us but beside.
