Draw a house plan in your journal and fill each room with objects and notes of doings - check our Frida Kahlo's for inspiration.
As a teenager, I would measure my room and the furniture and draw it out roughly to scale, trying out different layouts for my bed and wardrobe. It wasn’t that I had a lot of stuff to move around. It was simply something to do with all that pre-adult-life time I had.
Frida Kahlo did up plans of her house for visitors but took to marking up a lot more than the layout. She included a note as to which room she was born in, situated in the top left corner, the washing, and even the animals.
A drawing of a house plan could be one of the many keepsakes you use in your journal to capture memories of your life. You could include notes of who does what in each room and see how this change over the years.
To capture more detail you could draw a single room in detail and include notes on what is in the room and who uses it for what. This is done below by Stephanie Bower and in this post she goes through the steps she followed to complete it.
Do you like the idea of capturing a floor plan or full room sketch?
Which do you think you will tackle first?
Would you also include a sketch of the garden or a local space you like to walk or go to read a book?
Maybe you could include a sketch of your bookshelf and all the current books on it.
Any other location ideas for your journal you can share with us in the comments below?
