I beg you, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.
Rainer Maria Rilke
So much of our searching goes unanswered. We stare at the skies, take long walks and baths, or drink it into a red-hot pointed arrow. We scream into pillows, sob on sidewalks, or look up to distant horizons in sheer exhaustion, searching, praying, desperate and yet, nothing clarifies. We read, watch, push in, pull away, listen and drown out, but no answer is found.
No direction.
No solution.
No closure.
No reason.
One day, as the sun rises, carrying the warmth of a new day over our vast desert plains of longing, enough time has passed for us to see. We see clearly in the break of a new day that no answer is the answer. No direction is a direction, an inward one. Often a step into the dark within which we can only take with our hands outstretched, feeling the way.
The gift of these uncertain times is you. You come through. You do so by turning from outward in hope to an inward-facing position, creating your own certainty. You need to make a move and find your way, even if it is in the dark. You have to, for there is no other way forward. Proceeding on, cloaked in uncertainty. It is all you can do in the unknowing. You are brave. Growing and learning along the way. Let yourself rest, reset, and know that is your clue when any hint of expansive energy flows through you. A clue found on the path, revealed along the way, not before you start.
Sometimes no answer is the answer.
You have known unknowns before.
You will face mountains,
but many already are behind you.
Turn your light in, find certainty in yourself,
to light the direction to how you can again begin.
